Cards Against Humanity Review:
The Holidays are upon us! We will all be going to and hosting parties over the next few weeks. I wanted to review a game that makes any party that much more fun: Cards Against Humanity.
I know the game has been around for awhile now, but the fact of the matter is it is still a great game.
When the holidays are around or we are throwing a get together, there can be some downtime. We want our parties to be a big hit and make sure everyone is having a good time. Sometimes, people can stay inside their heads the entire party – not being able to let go.
Cards Against Humanity remedies that. Get yours here.
When having people over, I do enjoy having some physical games to play. A few years I would have laughed at this, saying, “You won’t catch me ever playing a game at a party.” Especially ones that involve my participation to have the game move along.
We are at the end of 2017 and heading into 2018. I still believe after all these years Cards Against Humanity is one of the best games to this day. It helps people have fun and get out of their heads to enjoy themselves.
The main reason I choose Cards Against Humanity as my go-to game is because of the simplicity. It is not hard to get started, has a small learning curve, and can go on for as long as you’d like. Also, the rules are not set in stone. You can make up any rules you want to enhance your enjoyment of the game.
As soon as the game begins, you know where this is heading.
The way a game works is like this:
-
You pass out white cards to all players
-
These are the cards that you will use to finish the sentence
-
-
For the first round, the Judge is picked
-
You do this by seeing which of the players pooped most recently (seriously)
-
-
The Judge picks a black card from the pile
-
These cards contain the sentences which you complete using the white cards in your hand
-
-
What happens next is up to the players to choose the best card to complete the sentence
-
WARNING: The typical response is some fucked up or depraved shit
-
This is what makes the game hilarious and fun
-
If you aren’t into this type of thing than Cards Against Humanity might not be for you
-
Realize its only a game and the responses are jokes made to make each other laugh
-
-
The Judge then picks the combination of black card and white card that they liked the best
-
The winner whom the Judge picks gets a point and it goes to the next round
What happens after, at least at my get-togethers, is everyone laughs and has a great time.
The game continues until someone has scored enough points.
A Party Game For Horrible People:
Cards Against Humanity’s slogan is “A Party Game for Horrible People.”
Cards Against Humanity holds nothing back when playing. Games will be crude, rude, and abrasive. To me, this is what makes the game so fun.
You sit around and create the most fucked up sentences known to man. I don’t know about you but that sounds like a good time.
Cards Against Humanity remains a best seller in 2017 even though it has been around a few years.
The game provides all the tools to make sure your next party is full of non-stop laughter. It will also reduce boredom.
The set I bought from Amazon did exclude some of the worst cards from the first iteration. The first version had some extreme cards in it. I guess they got some backlash for that and had to remove them. The new set is as good though and doesn’t take away from the game itself.
Are there any Cons to the game?
The only con I have with Cards Against Humanity is that it has the possibility of getting stale. You use the same cards over and over again. This means you will start seeing repeats in a short amount of time.
The positive side is there are a TON of expansions available on Amazon. Expansions come from both the official creators and unofficial fan-made ones. The expansion packs keep the game fresh and hilarious for a long time.
I purchased the unofficial expansion Crabs Adjust Humidity and it’s awesome. Some of the cards I got in that pack were better than the original game.
Like I said at the beginning of this post, the holidays are upon us. We are going to be having a lot of holiday parties in the coming weeks. Instead of thinking about what to do for it, why not give Cards Against Humanity a try?
If you are anything like me then you know jokes are jokes. Some people will think this is offensive. The goal of the game is to make each other laugh and Cards Against Humanity does that.
Conclusion:
Cards Against Humanity is available on Amazon and you can pick up your copy HERE.
I will also leave you a link to the expansion packs in case you want to give those a shot as well. My personal recommendation for the first expansion you buy is Crabs Adjust Humidity
