Positivity Is Hard; Negativity Is Easy

The Struggle:

Today, I wanted to talk about how positivity is hard and negativity is easy.

Every day is full of so many emotions. Both negative and positive. I read books and listen to podcasts daily. They make me want to be a better person. The problem isn’t with consuming all this positive content. It is what I do with the things I learn.

I have lived my whole life by going with the flow. Meaning, being happy when things are going good and being negative when things are going bad. I want to be the person that remains happy in the midst of struggling times. The person people want to be around every day to look up to. If you are a reader of this blog, you know I am working daily on this. It is a constant struggle, but that’s ok.

As you know, 2017 is the year I decided I wanted to do something for myself every day. The great thing is when I am putting in the work, the happiness is there. Problems arise when I have to do my daily routine that isn’t creating. That is when I have to muster the strength to pull that happiness from inside. I have to remind myself to be grateful. Remind myself to take pride in all the steps forward I have taken in a short period of time. Nothing makes me happier than producing this content for you. I need to maintain that good feeling throughout my day. Even when I am not creating.

Toxic Timelines:

When you turn on your television or look at your social media timelines, the majority of it is negative talk. We see so much of it each day, it’s easy to get caught up in it all. You get this feeling that its the norm. That it is how you should be as well.

I am here to tell you that I struggle with the same things. My timelines have their toxic content in them, but I have been working on fixing that. I wrote an article about Social Media and I spoke about how I am leveraging my social media. Using it to find mentors that I can look up to and follow in their footsteps. Instead of seeing all this garbage, I am now starting to see positivity everywhere. When I am not feeling positive, this pulls me out of that. The people I follow daily get my focus back on track. They give me mental clarity to push on and strive towards my goals.

Remaining positive in the face of day-to-day bullshit is a superpower. I feel so much better today than just a few months ago. When I am around people who are negative, I can remain true to my new beliefs. I can remain in state and that state is positivity. When things aren’t going as planned, I know I am coming home to do be productive. Putting in the work that few people I know are. I am making myself better by 1% every day. The percentage doesn’t matter. It’s the practice of always moving forward.

The Journey To Positivity:

The topic I am writing about today is one that I will revisit many times throughout the year. I will be journaling this journey right here for all you to see. The struggles and the triumphs of becoming the man I am destined to be. Not just for myself, but for everyone in my life. From my closest relationships to people reading in other countries. My goal is hoping that you can take something from this and use it yourself.

It is so easy to fall back into negativity – to gossip or complain. We have to realize that we are living in the best time in the world. Opportunities are out there every single person and they cost no money to begin. Years ago we would have had to spend tons of money to create content for people to see. I encourage everyone reading to just try out something they have been wanting to do. And when you are on your own journey – Show it to the world! I promise that in doing this, you will feel more positive. The happiness that comes with creating content will leverage your entire day. It will also encourage you to keep creating.

I am going to get super cliche on you for a moment, but it is something I believe in. Whenever you encounter someone that is being negative towards you – Kill Them With Kindness. Now I am not saying to be a wimp about it, but I am saying to try to bring that person out of that funk. If it doesn’t work then who cares. You have something bigger planned for yourself anyways.

The reason I listen to so many podcasts or read so many books is that it keeps you in that state. It is the same effect when you watch or listen to something that lights a fire under your ass. You immediately want to do what has affected you so much. To maintain that fire that was lit – you need to keep up with the content that got you there in the first place. These are the reasons why I will continue to write and take in positive messages anyway I can.

Conclusion:

One last thing I want to talk about and that is energy. The more negative self-talk I do throughout the day just tears me down. It pummels me to the ground and keeps me there until I get to my bed. As I said, it is a constant struggle for me every day to cut this out. The days when I am not following my own rules – I get out of work and do not want to do a goddam thing. It is because I used my entire days worth of energy feeding that negativity in my body. It drains the fuck out of you. The days I eat right and maintain a positive state – I can get out of work and feel like I can tackle anything.

The title of this post is Positivity Is Hard; Negativity is Easy. I don’t think I have ever written about a statement that was truer. We will get to where we want to be. Stay True and Stay Positive from the daily hardships life will throw your way. I will come out on the top of this mountain. I’ll see you at the top.

Let me know if you have any advice about staying in that positive state. Leave your advice or questions in the comments below.

Thank you for having the courage to write this article. While a lot of people do talk about being positive vs being negative, not many people bring their personal experiences into it. You did that here, you taught people by using your own life experiences, and that is authenticity unplugged. Which takes a lot of courage, so thank you brother!

To answer the call to action at the end of the post, my advice for staying in a positive state would be this: What you think about, becomes your reality.

I know when things are bad, we want to feel bad too. But that just attracts more negativity into your life. It becomes a trap and one of our own design.

The key (in my opinion) is to focus on your internal state and not let it be affected by outer circumstances. You must affect your outer world, by mastering your inner world (mindset)
If you can’t do this, then you’ll always be a slave to the fickle nature of external circumstances.

Is it hard? hell yes. Then again, nothing worthwhile is ever easy.

    Great article.
